Tumaas na ulit ang mga ratings ng GMA Telebabad kaya muli na naman daw natataranta ang ABS-CBN 2. Since bumalik ulit ang Encantadia, lahat ng telebabad shows ay umakyat ulit sa 30 plus ratings.

Pinaka-consistent naman na mataas ay ang paborito naming Jewel In The Palace na kahit super late na ay inaabangan pa rin ng marami.

Malaki nga talaga ang following ng Encantadia kaya hindi maiiwasan ng show na ibalik ang mga dating characters. Nauna na si Dawn Zulueta at susunod nang magbabalik ay sina Alfred Vargas at pati na si Jennylyn Mercado.

Kung gayun, may chance kayang ibalik pa si Mark Herras sa Encantadia kahit na namatay na ito sa istorya dahil sa katandaan? Aba, anything is possible sa telebisyon ngayon kaya hintayin na lang natin kung muling magsasaya ang mga Mark-Jennylyn fans sa Encantadia.

Hindi kami na-impress at ilang beses umarko ang kilay namin sa kuwento ni Maui Taylor na ipinalabas sa Magpakailanman nu’ng Huwebes.

Ilang beses kaming tinanong ng katabi namin kung totoo bang nangyari ang mga ‘yun kay Maui. Hindi ko masagot dahil parang ayoko rin maniwalang nangyari iyun.

Ang kuwento ni Nene Tamayo ng Pinoy Big Brother ang pantapat ng Maalaala Mo Kaya pero comment din ng isang kaibigan naming nakapanood, mahina ang casting at hindi ganun ka-impressive ang kuwento.

Wagi sa ratings ang Maui story ng Magpakailanman kesa sa ‘Kumander Nene’ ng Maalaala Mo Kaya.

'Moments of Love' kakaiba! Karylle, inagrabyado nga ba sa 'Moments of Love'?

Huwag na tayong magtaka kung bakit series of presscon ang planong gawin ng GMA Films para sa pelikulang Moments of Love, na pinagbibidahan nina Iza Calzado, Dingdong Dantes at Karylle.

Eh kasi nga, plano ng GMA Films na ipaintindi nang husto sa mga tao, sa tulong ng mga manunulat sa showbiz, na ang pelikulang Moments of Love ay hindi pelikula na magpapakilig, o ‘yung mga ordinaryong pelikula na ang pangunahing hangarin ay pagbigyan ang mga kabataan na makita ang kanilang mga idolo na naglalambingan sa malaking telon.

Nais iparating ng GMA Films sa mga manonood na ang Moments of Love ay kuwento ng isang kakaibang pag-ibig. Hindi ito ordinaryong kuwento lamang, na kung saan ang bidang lalake ay nahulog ang loob sa bidang babae.

Sa trailer pa lang ng pelikula, kapansin-pansin na bukod sa glossy talaga ang dating nito, ang kakaibang paglalahad talaga ng kuwento ang namamayani rito.

Sa pagkakaintindi namin sa kuwento ng Moments of Love, na base sa trailer na napanood namin, sina Iza at Dingdong ay mga tao na nabuhay sa magkaibang panahon.

At tulad sa nauna naming isinulat, ang telepono ang naging ugnayan ng dalawa. Na sa isang pagtunog ng telepono, nagkausap ang dalawa sa hindi inaasahan.

Wala silang kamalay-malay na bagamat nakakapag-usap sila, nabubuhay naman sila sa magkaibang panahon. Si Iza ay nabubuhay sa makalumang panahon (1950) at si Dingdong naman ay sa makabagong panahon (2006).

Binalak nilang magtagpo, pero siyempre, hindi sila nagkita, dahil magkaiba nga ang panahon nila.
"Basta, maiiyak kayo sa bandang huli. Hindi na lang namin sasabihin kung magkikita silang dalawa, pero maiiyak talaga kayo," sabi ni Mrs. Annette Gozon-Abrogar.

Ang Moments of Love ay isang kuwento ng pag-ibig na tunay at wagas.

Ang bagong pelikulang ito GMA Films ay tungkol sa dalawang
magkasintahang nasa magkaibang panahon.

Ang istorya ng magkasintahan ay puno ng misteryo, sakit, at tamis na magsasalarawan ng tunay na wagas na pag-ibig --
‘tsura ng Somewhere in Time!

Si Divina (Iza Calzado) ay nasa taong 1957 at si Marco (Dingdong Dantes) ay nasa
taong 2006. Kahit 49 na taon ang pagitan ng magkasintahan dahil sa misteryosong
mga pangyayari, magtatagpo ang kanilang mga puso.

Maipagmamalaki ang Moments of Love mula sa cinematography, musical scoring,
pag-arte ng mga artista, at direksyon.

Kasama rin sa cast nito sina Paolo Contis at Karylle. (Hindi
naman siguro kontrabida rito si Karylle, ‘no?!)

Ang istorya ng Moments of Love ay katha ng GMA Films’ President na si Annette Gozon-Abrogar, at ang screenplay ay mula kay Gina Marissa Tagasa.
Ang pelikula ay idinirehe ni Mark Reyes.

Kakaiba ang istorya ng Moments of Love na ipalalabas sa Marso. Hindi ito katulad ng mga love story na kinagawian ng mga manonood na Pilipino.

Angel Locsin sa MAJIKA

Marami nang excited sa bagong show ni Angel Locsin sa GMA na may titulong Majika na magsisimula na sa Marso 13, kapalit ng StarStruck The Nationwide Invasion na magtatapos na sa Marso 12.

Base na rin sa pamagat ay puno ng mahika at salamangka ang bagong serye ni Angel after Darna. Kakaibang Angel daw ang mapapanood dito na nag-aaksyun-aksyon and at the same time ay gumagamit ng magical powers itsura ni Harry Potter (o ni Hermione Granger).

Si Katrina Halili, na nakalaban niya rin noon bilang Black Darna ang kontrabida sa Majika. For a change ay hindi raw masama ang karakter dito ni Jean Garcia.

Si Jean ang magti-train kay Angel sa human world bago ito bumalik sa magical world upang makipagtunggali sa mga kalaban.

Exciting abangan ang mga gagawing stunts ni Angel habang nangangabayo, matapos siyang mag-ensayo kay champion equestrienne Mikee Cojuangco-Jaworski na ang mga anak pala ay fans ni Angel.

Sina Eric Quizon at Mac Alejandre ang magdidirek ng Majika, sa panulat ni RJ Nuevas.
Pagkatapos ng Majika, ang dinig namin ay nakatakda namang ilunsad ng GMA sa Abril ang Captain Barbell ni Richard Gutierrez.

Wala pa umanong napipiling bubuo sa cast ng fantaserye dahil tila inaayos pa ang rights nito.
Kung hindi mauudlot ay malamang sa Mayo naman magsimula ang I Love New York na pagbibidahan ng dating mag-sweetheart na Mark Herras at Jennylyn Mercado. Nakapag-ocular na raw ang Siyete sa New York at plantsado na ang naturang proyekto.

Marky Cielo, ipinagmamalaki ang dugong igorot

Na-tense ang isa sa mga finalist ng StarStruck The Nationwide Invasion na si Marky Cielo nang hiritan namin na bawat kilos at galaw niya ngayon ay tututukan na ng madla at maging ng kanyang co-survivors dahil siya ang ‘unanimous choice’ ng kanyang mga kasamahan na posibleng maging Ultimate Sole Survivor ng 3rd season ng StarStruck.

Siyam sa 10 survivors ang bumoto kay Marky (si Bugz Daigo ng Cebu ang pinili niya dahil hindi niya pwedeng iboto ang kanyang sarili) at sinabing bilib sila sa talent ng binata, pati na sa pagiging masipag at mabait nito.

Aminado si Marky na malaking pressure ‘yon para sa kanya at mabigat ang papasanin niyang responsibilidad kaya sana raw ay makayanan niya.

In fairness, nu’ng press launch pa lang ng bagong batch ng StarStruck ay standout na si Marky among the boys at agad niyang nakuha ang pansin namin kaya hindi na kami nagtaka na siya ang choice ng lahat ng kanyang co-finalists.

Isa sa mga ikinatuwa namin sa bagets ay ang pagiging proud niya sa kanyang dugong-Igorot. Pinalakpakan ang sagot niya nu’ng presscon na gusto niyang maging unang Igorot na makikilala sa showbiz dahil wala umano siyang kilalang artista na may lahing Igorot (meron kaming isang kakilala pero tila itinatatwa nito ang kanyang katutubong pinagmulan).

Ang lakas ng impact ng ginawang music video ni Marky last week na nakahubad siya at nasa ulanan habang umaawit ng Hanggang Kailan ng Orange and Lemons. Hindi man siya ganu’n kaguwapo at ka-sexy ay ma-appeal si Marky at malakas ang kanyang dating.

Natawa siya at parang nahiya nang sabihin namin na dahil sa music video niya na ‘yon ay mas nagustuhan siya ng mga girlash at bigla siyang naging ‘pantasya’ ng mga bading!

Feeling ni Marky ay hindi siya sexy dahil dati raw ay payat siya pero ngayon ay wala siyang maipagmamalaking abs at may katabaan siya dahil sa kakakain.

Dapat daw ay hindi siya maghuhubad sa kanyang music video pero nu’ng basain siya ng tubig ay pinatanggal na lang sa kanya ang suot niyang shirt.

Buti na lang daw at maganda ang kinalabasan nito kahit na ginaw na ginaw siya sa rain effect nu’ng sinu-shoot nila ‘yon.

Nasa high school na siya nang lumipat sila sa Mt. Province at doon na siya nagtapos nito. First year, 2nd semester na dapat siya ng kursong Architecture sa St. Louis University sa Baguio kung hindi siya nakapasok sa StarStruck nang mag-audition siya sa Dagupan.

Hindi raw niya pangarap ang maging isang artista, subok-subok lang. Sinuwerte naman na napili siya mula sa mga nag-audition sa Luzon kaya ngayong nandito na siya ay pinagbubuti niya ang lahat ng kanyang ginagawa.

Artistic at mahilig mag-drawing si Marky. Walang Fine Arts course sa SLU Baguio kaya Architecture na lang ang kinuha niya sa kolehiyo.

Parehong dito sa Maynila nagtatrabaho ang kanyang mga magulang pero hiwalay na ang mga ito. Kasama niya ngayon ang kanyang ina sa isang nirerentahang bahay sa may Ortigas.

Nakakaisang girlfriend pa lang daw ang bagets pero break na sila ng nasabing girl na schoolmate niya sa Baguio. Ayon kay Marky ay ‘torpe’ siya pagdating sa babae.

Ayaw niya pang sabihin sa amin nu’ng una kung sino ang crush niya sa batch nila pero napaamin din namin si Marky na type niya si Rea Nakpil ng Rizal na na-eliminate na sa programa.

Si Marky, kasama sina Chuck Allie ng Davao at Jana Roxas ng Tarlac ang tatlong survivors na nabunot ni Tito Douglas Quijano para i-handle ngayong linggong ito sa StarStruck The Nationwide Invasion.

Ang dalawa pang managers ay sina Tita Lolit Solis (sina Iwa Moto, Arci Munoz at Gian Carlos ang nabunot) at Tita Malou Choa-Fagar (sina Bugz Daigo, Vivo Ouano at Jackie Rice ang iha-handle).

Kasama sa task ng mga manager ang bigyan ng makeover, pabihisan sa mga designer at ipa-pictorial ang kanilang mga alaga this week.

Sa elimination night sa Linggo ay makikipag-‘showdown’ ang mga StarStruck bagets sa mga alagang artista ng tatlong nabanggit na managers.

Ang kaibigang Gorgy Rula ang assistant ni Tita Lolit at si Tito Jun Nardo ang kay Tita Malou. Bigla naming naka-‘bonding’ sina Marky, Chuck at Jana dahil kami ang napiling maging assistant ni Tito Dougs.

Unang week pa lang ng pinaka-aabangan na Jewel in the Palace and everyone is raving over it already! Eh kasi naman, talagang maganda ang Koreanovela na into. It was surprising that people from different cultures get to appreciate it as much as they did. But the show’s success is largely due to the powerful acting skills and the unassuming charm of Lee Young-Ae.

As the leading actress of the Asian hit, Jewel in the Palace, Young Ae is certainly the biggest star in this part of the world. She plays the strong willed beauty, Seo Jang Geum. As a girl, she entered the Palace at the age of 10. She placed her heart and soul into cooking. Later on, due to a conspiracy, she was expelled from the royal household. But she redeemed herself by returning to the palace as the first woman physician in the history of the Chuson dynasty to serve the king.

Hindi ito ang usual story ng isang Korean woman! Young Ae had to keep in mind that she is playing a historical figure, not just any film or television character. Let us get to know this mature actress better.

Young Ae does not seem that mature actually because of her perfect skin and sunny disposition but this 34 year old actress knows how to take care of herself and that is why she still looks so young!

Though she first appeared in 1993, it was not until 1995 that she began getting attention for her efforts. In 1996, she made her film debut in the Inch'Allah. Though the film was not well received, her talent still shone through. She recuperated in her next film, the hugely successful, Joint Security Area directed by Park Chan-wook. In that project, Young Ae became a certified star. Thus was the start of her film career which later earned her a Best Actress award from the local Blue Dragon awards.

Despite her success on the silver screen, it will be her small screen role in Jewel in the Palace that will make Young Ae an undisputed Asian celebrity.

For television, Young Ae won several citations as well. These include the KBS TV Awards, Most Popular Actress (1999), SBS TV Awards, Best Actress (1998), MBC TV Awards Best Actress (1996).

In the beginning there was Etheria!

Relive the adventure and excitement of “Encantadia,” join us as we go back to where the world began.

Back when Encantadia was a young world, there was a kingdom called Etheria. The strong and powerful kingdom was ruled by Queen Avria who wanted to control the neighboring kingdoms of Lireo, Sapiro, Adamya and Hathoria.

The neighboring kingdoms, however, banded together and attempted to defeat the forces of Etheria.

Avria would not be defeated easily even as her kingdom succumbed. The queen swore that Etheria would return to power once the last Sang’gre is born.

KAALIW ang KORTENG MANI sa Nuts Entertainment. Mag-guguest si ETHEL BOOBA pero hindi ako sure kung kailan ‘yon ipalalabas, pero dapat ninyong abangan kung paano natameme si Janno Gibbs kay Ethel Booba.

Eh kasi naman, si Ethel ang isinalang nila sa portion nilang Korteng Mani. Ang eksena kunwari ay nasa korte sila, si Janno ang prosecutor o tagausig kay Ethel.

Ang paksang pinag-usapan ay kung totoo nga bang ‘Pasaway’ si Ethel!
Sa simula, ipinakita ng depensa (abogado ni Ethel) na si Anjo Yllana ang pagiging sikat ni Ethel. Binanggit nga niya ang mga artistang nalaos agad dahil walang kagimik-gimik sa buhay.

Sa sinabing ‘yon ni Ethel, natulala si Janno. Nagtakip ng mukha, dahil hindi niya inaasahan na magbubuga si Ethel ng kung anu-ano sa harap ng kamera.

Sabi ni Janno, mas maganda kung ika-cut na lang ang eksenang ‘yon, dahil ayaw nilang makasagasa ng ibang tao. Mas maganda nga raw kung matawa ang mga tao sa portion na ‘yon, kesa magalit sa kanila.

Ang kasunod na isyung inilabas ni Janno ay ‘yung tungkol sa iskandalo ng sex video na kinasangkutan ni Ethel. Nagpakita ng kanyang ebidensiya si Janno tungkol sa iskandalo ng sex video ni Ethel.

Ipinakita niya kay Ethel ang hawak niyang cellphone na may kamera na kung saan ay may isang babae na tsumutsurba (term ni Ethel sa ginawa ng babae, na hindi ko na idedetalye pa, basta may kinalaman ‘yon sa pagpapaligaya ng babae sa isang lalake).

Siyempre, itinanggi ni Ethel ang naturang sex video. Hindi raw siya ‘yon.

Na pinaniwalaan ko naman dahil hindi maitim ang ex-boyfriend ni Ethel na si Alex.

Hindi ko na iisa-isahin pa ang lahat ng rebelasyon ni Ethel sa Korteng Mani para may maabangan pa kayo. Pero, sa bandang huli ng portion na iyon, na kung saan ay magsasalita na ang jury, tinanong ni Jun Nardo si Ethel kung tsumutsurba ba ito.

"Hindi ako tsumutsurba kapag may video camera!" say ni Ethel.

Anyway, sa bandang huli ay nagsalita ang abogado ni Ethel na si Anjo. Sinabi niya na ang ibig sabihin ng tsumutsurba ay ‘yung pagpapa-picture.

Siyanga pala, inamin din ni Ethel na nanliligaw siya kay Brad (hindi ko alam ang apelyido). Nakasama ni Ethel si Brad sa isang episode ng Extra Challenge. Si Brad nga ‘yung mahaba ang buhok na kulut-kulot na sobrang guwapo.

"Wala namang masama kung ako ang manligaw sa lalake. Dati kasi, ako ang nililigawan, at hindi naman ako nagiging masaya. Kaya ngayon, ako na ang manliligaw, para makapamili ako ng lalake na magpapasaya sa akin!" walang kakurap-kurap na say ni Ethel.

Julia Clarete, pasok sa Hollywood film na 'UN Murder'!

NAKATAKDANG lumipad patungong Hollywood si Julia Clarete sa February upang tuparin na ang commitment sa kanya bilang grand winner sa reality show na Hollywood Dream.

Two weeks lang munang mawawala ng bansa si Julia, ayon sa kanyang manager na si Henry (hindi namin naitanong ang apelyido niya, ‘no!) nang magkita kami sa Eat Bulaga studios.

Ayon pa sa manager ng aktres, ang title ng movie niyang gagawin ay UN Murder pero hindi pa niya alam kung sinu-sino ang kasama niyang artist. Gusto lang niyang siguruhin na meron silang pipirmahang kontrata sa mga detalye ng activities ni Julia nang sa gayon ay alam niya ang mangyayari sa alaga.

Tanging ang local counterpart ng Hollywood Dream dito ang makakasama ni Julia sa kanyang pag-alis. Mabuti na lang daw at nasa Amerika rin ang mother at brother nito, kaya kampante si Henry na merong mag-aasikaso sa kanya roon.

'Eat Bulaga', nanatiling No.1!

HINDI man daw aminin, halata na nagkaproblema raw sa pagitan ng GMA-7 at Eat Bulaga last year dahil sa mga pelikula nilang Enteng Kabisote 2 at Mulawin The Movie. Pero, dahil mga disente ang mga taong involved, agad din itong naayos. Hindi na ito lumaki at pinagpiyestahan pa sa palengke!

At para patunayan na wala na silang problema, at matigil na ‘yang usap-usapan na ‘yan na iiwanan na ng Eat Bulaga ang GMA-7, heto at naglabas na ng statement ang GMA 7 tungkol sa Eat Bulaga:

"Eat Bulaga remains the undisputed No. 1 noontime show," nakasaad sa press release na in-email ng GMA sa amin.

Narito pa ang karugtong:

"Eat Bulaga, which airs on GMA Network, maintains its status as the undisputed No. 1 noontime show after all these years. A lot of shows have been pitted against this daily variety show, hoping to be the one to topple it, but to no avail. The show, whose 25th Anniversary Celebration last year won in the recent Asian TV Awards for Best Entertainment (On-Off/Annual) Special, has far outlived all of its rival programs.

"In 2005 alone, the rival network pitted three shows against Eat Bulaga, and not once were any of its rival programs able to sustain a lead against it. After the first of these rival programs folded up in early February last year, the competition put two back-to-back shows in its timeslot: first a game show followed by a variety show. From the time these two shows began in February up to the present, Eat Bulaga consistently dominated the ratings, according to the AGB Panel Data Mega Manila TV Household Ratings.

"The two rival programs began at 18.9% and 15.6% respectively against Eat Bulaga’s 25.4% in February, according to AGBNMR. Eat Bulaga maintained its lead for the rest of the months of 2005, even getting ratings as high as 26.4% for August while the two rival programs only garnered ratings of 17.4% and 17.6% for the same month. Eat Bulaga averaged 24.7% for the January-November 2005 period, while the two rival programs only got 18% and 17.5%, respectively, for the same period.

"And contrary to recent claims by these rival programs that they have overcome Eat Bulaga, the leading noontime show on GMA-7 still maintains its lead for the month of December. According to the Joint Venture Mega Manila TV Household Rating, Eat Bulaga reigns with 22.4% against the two rival programs’ 14.8% and 16.2% for the period of December 1-10.

"The ratings prove that Filipino viewers would still much rather have Vic Sotto, Joey de Leon, and the rest of the wacky Eat Bulaga hosts as their noontime companions, still very much enjoy their jokes and antics in "Bulagaan", and are still excited to join or even just watch the noontime program’s many contests, including the highly popular "Laban o Bawi".

TWENTY days prior to its playdate, the pre-Valentine presentation of Regal and GMA Films -- I Will Always Love You -- hasn’t finished its principal photography yet.

Reminds us of last two minutes rush in basketball or the race to the wire in racing. To think that plans for the movie started a year ago, right after the successful Let The Love Begin which opened on Valentine’s Day last year.

That Feb. 14, 2005 presentation was produced by GMA Films and distributed by Regal. Now here, they have a joint venture.

A lot of other commitments for Richard Gutierrez and Angel Locsin went in their work here. Richard has three times a week work on the Sugo series and earlier Angel had Darna for GMA 7.

And there was Mulawin The Movie which must be finished on time for the December filmfest.
Of course, the IWALY stars, staff and crew went all the way to San Francisco (California) where filming was made in the area and its environs (like Daly City which has a lot of Pinoys).

There were kinks in the filming, too. Some days worth of expensive shooting had to be scrapped and re-shot when film negatives were damaged. And there was the fog to contend with. Foggy in Daly City. Foggy in downtown San Francisco. And when the film crew would try to film the bridge, it would be completely invisible due to the huge blanket of fog.

It was only on the last day of filming, when the cast and crew seemed to have given up that the fog miraculously lifted for two hours or so. Thus, you can see the all-important scene where Angel and Richard see the Golden Gate bridge, the famous San Francisco landmark, for the first time in the movie.

Due to the cold and perhaps work, Angel too got sick while there. The doctor at the hospital diagnosed as acute bronchitis which needed her to rest in the middle of the filming there.
Back in the homeland, with the playdate set on Feb. 8, there’s still the problem between Mother Lily and Annabelle Rama unsolved.

Anyway, Richard Gutierrez promises to finish the movie -- with two or three days of work still to go.

And he is optimistic too that upon the expiration of his contract with Regal this year, he will be renewing his contract with Regal still. Which means that he believes that both his mom and his producer can iron out their differences on him before that time comes.

Of course, Annabelle Rama seems to have no choice to sign up Richard with Regal. After all, besides Star Cinema of ABS-CBN, only Regal is active in film production. Pulling Richard out of Regal is at this time a bad move.

It was when Harry’s beloved grandmother died that his family heard his powerful voice. Gerald, on the other hand, couldn’t stop thinking of his uncle who passed away too. It’s undeniable that they are highly attached to their families and relatives. It’s also no longer surprising that both consider building a career in the musical world. Harry says “Gusto kong magkaroon ng experience and mag-enjoy hangga’t kaya ko pang kumanta.” And Gerald? “Maraming nagsasabing maganda boses ko and gusto ko rin po talaga [kumanta].”

SYNOPSIS

Gon Freecs, a young boy living with his aunt on Whale Island, thought his father to be dead. That is until a chance meeting with the Hunter Kaito. It is through Kaito that Gon learns of the rich legacy of Hunters, people whom explore the unknown aspects of the world in all its facets. Gon also learns that his father, Jin Freecs, is not only alive but is in fact the greatest Hunter in the world. It is with this knowledge that Gon ventures out into the world with the goal of becoming a Hunter and finding the whereabouts of his father, all the while making several friends and having many adventures of his own.

REVIEW

The lack of fandom surrounding Hunter X Hunter is somewhat enigmatic to me. It is a title that, by all rights, should have a huge buzz behind it. Not only is Hunter X Hunter the work of Yoshihiro Togashi, the creator of Yu Yu Hakusho, but it is also far superior to other currently running big-hype titles, the most prominent of which is Naruto. It manages to be enormously entertaining through its unique concoction of animation, characterization, and plot, without resorting to the cliches that have all too often ruined a seemingly novel show of a similar vein. And yet Hunter X Hunter remains little known. With any luck this review will have a hand in lifting the veil of obscurity that currently surrounds this magnificent title.

To begin with, the story of Hunter X Hunter is vibrant and imaginative, though not at all difficult. Right from the start the aim of this series is made clear, the eventual reunion of Gon with his father. However, the path that is taken to achieve this end is full of twists and turns that continuously succeed in keeping this tale fresh. The viewer is ceaselessly wisked between offbeat situations as varied as the dangerous wilderness to a battle-stage tower with over two hundred floors of increasingly difficult fighting tournaments. It is through these atypical situations that we come to understand the motivations of our lead and become endeared to his cause. A superb level of attention in plotting is also dedicated to the other prominent cast members, including Gon’s companions Killua, Leorio, and Kurapica. Though the centerpiece here is Gon, none of the supporting roles go underdeveloped. In fact the only problem with plotting is that the story takes a few episodes to really get churning. If you can make it to about episode six or seven though, you will be fully strapped in for one hell of a fun ride.

A rather unexpected facet of this title is how lightly the plot focuses on fighting, especially given that Togashi’s most famous work, Yu Yu Hakusho, was often little more than a continuous battle-fest. To be certain, fighting does take place and at some points in the series it becomes quite prominent, but it never manages to wrestle the spotlight away from the fleshier portions of the narrative. Despite this, the action leaves very little to be desired. The fight-action sets here are more complex than the typical ki-blasting, as fast-as-light-movement farce that has become the industry standard for fighting anime. Instead we are treated to a truly creative power-leveling system and a diversity of combat styles that make each fight more than simply diversionary but instead truly engaging. It is as if the battle scenes have actually added to the tension and excitement of the plotline rather than flattened it, a rare occurrence indeed.

Leaving just a bit more to be desired of Hunter X Hunter, however, are the peripherals. Musically, while not bad, HXH just does not manage to live up to its more palatial qualities. Still, the music is good enough and has continuously improved throughout the series. I have personally enjoyed the opening and closing music more and more with each successive theme change that occurs. Additionally the animation is mostly quite nice. It certainly isn’t spectacular by any stretch of the imagination, but it is visually appealing. There is also a definite change for the better in terms of animation the further one progresses through the show. The set pieces have strong appeal as well, and are reasonably effective at immersing us in this strange and phenomenal world.

The most remarkable aspect of Hunter X Hunter, however, lies within its remarkable characters. Most of the cast here is not at all generic or formulaic, a welcome retreat from the chiefly derivative characters so prominent in similar shows. Gon, the show’s lead, is a charismatic young boy whose optimism and innocence is always invigorating without being imposing. An odd tidbit, Gon is virtually never the strongest character on the screen, by a long shot. A partial reason for this is that his goal isn’t necessarily to be the strongest being in existence but primarily to better himself. This is another big plus in the personality department that sets Gon apart from your conventional “Shonen Jump Hero Archtype”. Gon’s optimism is offset well by the darker, more brooding persona of Killua, a young boy that Gon befriends early in the show. Together they make for perhaps the most interesting pair of best friends in all of anime. Their companions, Leorio and Kurapica, also make for complex and interesting characters. Leorio is a man who, haunted by his past, is motivated to the performance of benevolent acts to the benefit of humanity. Kurapica, conversely, is motivated by revenge, though revenge is an ideal that is out of character for him. Consequently, Kurapica always seems to be a man at odds with himself.

Equally compelling are the more contemptible figures of this tale such as Hisoka, Kuroro, and the rest of the Genei Ryodan. The interplay of these vastly different personalities is the bread and butter of Hunter X Hunter.
It should be no secret that Hunter X Hunter has bewitched me. Beyond some very minor failings, it is nearly beyond fault. It carries with it a sort of energy and charm that is very intoxicating. To put it most concisely, Hunter X Hunter should be considered Yoshihiro Togashi’s new masterwork. Any less firm a designation would be an injustice against this superb animated opus.

Gon Freecss
Age : 12
Gon wanted to be a Hunter like his father, Jin (Ging). His father was said to be a great Hunter. However, Gon has seen his father only in the picture because Aunt Mito who raised him told him that Jin is dead, but he actually not. Gon went to attend the test wishing that if he passes it, he'll have the clues to meet his father. Gon is a very friendly boy. Most animals like him. (Animals will like a good Hunter.) He was raised by Aunt Mito. He grew up with a lot of special skills because his areas are forest and the sea. Gon understand birds' language. He has a very special eye view and great speed. He also has a very powerful body strength and recovery. His weapon is a fish-hook. Gon can get along with anyone and he rarely gets mad at somebody. The only time when he got mad at Irumi (Killua's bro), he broke Kitaracle arm with just a twist! Gon met Kurapika, Reorio, and Killua along the way to the Hunter Test. Gon and Killua get along best. They paired up and traveled together after the Test is ended.

Killua (Kirua)
Age : 12
Killua came from the killer family. (very rich too) Everyone of the Zoldick family (his last name) is a killer. Killua was the most skilled of all, but he didn't really want to be a killer. All his family members were expecting him to be the best killer. Father: Silver. Mother: ???. Grandpa: Zeno Brothers: Irumi (Kitaracle) and Milky. Sister: Culto. His nickname is Kil. Killua ran away from home to enter the Hunter Test just because he has nothing else to do. He thought it would be exciting, but it actually not to Killua. He said the Test was boring. Killua met Gon at the Test and they seem to get along best. He sometimes travels by a skateboard. Killua's hands are as sharp as a knife (he's the best of the Soldick!) His skills are a lot better than Gon because he was trained by a tougher lesson than the Hunter Test. Killua can drink any poison without any harm. Killua doesn't talk much to other people. He and Gon later became best friends. They traveled together after the Test was over. * Some people spelled his name as Kirua, but I spelled his name "Killua" as it is written in the manga. You can see it written on the scene where Killua and Gon went to the Skyscraper Battle Arena where the Battle Olympia is held.

Kurapika
Age: Teenage
Kurapika came from Kurata Tribe. The Kuratas' eyes will turn to a reddish-color when they are very angry and if they were kill at that time, the color will not change forever. This color is said to be one of the most beautiful color in the world. He was the only one survived. The rest of the Kuratas were killed by a very cruel group of thugs called "Genei Ryodan" or the Spider. This Genei Ryodan used a 12-leg spider as their symbol. If he passes the Hunter Test, he could get more information on the Genei Ryodan. His goal was to take back all his friends' eyes and revenge for them. Kurapika is the cleverest of all. He has lots of knowledge because he read many books. He is normally calm, but if he sees a spider, any spider, his eyes will turn red and became so mad because it reminds him of the Genei Ryodan. His weapon is a double-sword.

Reorio (Leolio)
Age: Teenage
Reorio is the clumsiest and less skilled of the four. He wanted to be a Hunter because of money. His friend died of sickness because he has no money to pay for the doctor fees. Reorio is although seems like a hot-head guy, he is very caring and won't give up easily. His dream is to be a doctor who cure people without charging. His best skills are curing people from sickness and curing the wounded injuries. After he passes the Hunter Test, he begins to study hard for the Doctor Exam.

SUMMARY

The drama begins with Hyuk Joons grandfather, the patriarch of the respectable and very traditional Kwon household, agreeing to a pre-arranged marriage between his at-the-time 10 year old grandson and the new-born granddaughter of his best friend, Jung Sooks grandfather. However, the family of Jung Sooks grandfather soon runs into debt and in the middle of the night, they quietly leave the Kwon household so as not to bring shame upon them.

Fast forward 17 years and Jung Sook is all grown up now and studying her final year in high school in preparation for her university-entrance exams. Her grandfather and father have by now passed on and she was brought up in a poor environment by her mum who owns a small laundry shop. However, Jung Sook is chirpy and strong-willed despite her background and definitely very cheeky. She unfortunately does not have much of an interest in her studies and often goes shopping and to discos with her gang of four close friends, known in school collectively as the five mirror princesses.

It is during one of these disco outings that Jung Sook ends up meeting her future husband, Hyuk Joon, although it is not in the best of circumstances. Hyuk Joon, a prosecutor has led his team to the disco to arrest a targeted gang leader but failing to do so, end up arresting underage entrants to the disco instead. Jung Sook, not yet 18, is one of those arrested and the awkward circumstance of their meeting is used to generate a few laughs. At almost the same time, Hyuk Joons grandfather who has been looking for his long-lost friend over the years, finally locates Jung Sooks familys whereabouts and send Hyuk Joons uncle to formalise the details of the pre-arranged marriage with Jung Sooks mum.

Upon learning of the marriage, Hyuk Joon and Jung Sook of course are very much opposed to it with Hyuk Joon thinking of Jung Sook as an immature brat while Jung Sook sees Hyuk Joon as an old boring nerd. However, the usual plot developments are thrown in to bring the two together like Jung Sook catching Hyuk Joon in the bath when going to his house to ask him something and more importantly, she learns that Hyuk Joon is her first love (the unknown guy in traditional Korean dress whom she bumped into on the street and fell in love with immediately). Thus Jung Sook begins to actively pursue the marriage to Hyuk Joons horror, even travelling from Seoul to Andong (a rural area where the Kwon household is located) to earn points with Hyuk Joons grandfather. Hyuk Joons grandfather takes an immediate liking to her despite her being from a poor background and not trained in the proper use of Korean traditional etiquette and household duties. Adamant that the marriage goes through, Hyuk Joon finally agrees to the marriage so as not to aggravate his grandfathers ailing health and with the mutual agreement with Jung Sook that their marriage is only to be in name with each other not interfering in the others personal life.

All this takes place within the first few episodes and there is much more interesting twists and turns as Ga Young, Hyuk Joons aggressive university ex-girlfriend, is introduced and goes about trying to win back Hyuk Joon with the help of Sun Ah, Hyuk Joons sister who utterly dislikes Jung Sook and is against the marriage. Other obstacles like Hyuk Joons and Jung Sooks constant bickering, the problems of living under one roof and the requirement of Jung Sook to meet the expectations of the Kwon family as the wife of the heir also come into play to create some humorous moments and also further the plot. It would be too long to summarise the entire plot here but to put it briefly, in the end true love blossoms between Hyuk Joon and Jung Sook and their show marriage becomes a real one in all meanings of the word.

Introduction:

This drama is about the hard life of THEA and GELLI, two sisters whose mother died while giving birth to GELLI. Their father, who loves them dearly, married their mother without their paternal grandfather's consent.

Jang Dong Gun as KENNETH:

To my understanding, he is a very famous actor in Korea. It just seemed weird to me when everyone else in this series could barely open their eyes and here was Jang Dong Gun with his large round eyes. Yun KENNETH is a Prince Charming figure in this series. He has everything that you could name in a Dream guy: handsome, money, power, intelligence, devotion, loyalty. To top it off, he is a very lonely person who desperately wants someone to understand him (Yeah, right!). Wouldnt you be glad to help him out? KENNETH is one unrealistic character but it does allow the viewer to have some fantasy. Jang Dong Gun fits into the role of a Prince Charming. Im sure most female viewers would fall for him. It was romantic to watch KENNETH'S shower his affection on NICOLE. There was one scene in the series where NICOLE was waiting for WARREN patiently in the rain and met KENNETH who just walked past. Later, he saw WARREN driving NICOLE home and realized that NICOLE was still standing in the rain. Jang Dong Gun expressed KENNETH's anger and frustration really well when he dragged her back to his place. Yet KENNETH really understood NICOLE's love for WARREN and knew that he was just acting the same as NICOLE. Jang Dong Gun delivered a performance full of panache and charm. His KENNETH was calm and collected.

Chae Rim as NICOLE:

This is the Cinderella of the story. She is supposed to be kind-hearted, innocent, at times clumsy but in a sweet way. Chae Rim looked sweet enough, even though a bit unnatural at some angles. I wonder if she had undergone the relentless knife of some cosmetic surgeon? She occasionally reminded me of Vicky Zhao Wei. Chae Rim seemed to have received training in a Taiwanese acting school. She could cry so well. Tears just poured out at will. NICOLE was hopelessly in love with Woo Jin but was moved by KENNETH's affection for her. Yet at times, I felt as though she was double-timing KENNETHl. NICOLE was one silly woman who let herself be vulnerable to ERIKA's tricks time after time.

Kim So Yeon as ERIKA:

ERIKA was indeed a very pitiful character. She grew up under difficult circumstances so she understood what it meant to have nothing. She tried hard to be the best but as fate would have it, she was not going to be the best. ERIKA was a talented newswoman. However, she felt really insecure and to be certain that she would get what she wanted, she would harm NICOLE. Even when she succeeded, her past still haunted her with the constant harassment from her ex-boyfriend. With a past like that, no wonder ERIKA was envious of NICOLE. She wanted what NICOLE had, even if it meant leaving her beloved WARREN to go after Hyong Chul. Kim So Yeon did very well as ERIKA, from the envious glances to the pretentious tears. She was a bit slow in her reaction in some scenes: for example it took forever for her to turn around and she would have looked more beautiful if she did not have that hairstyle that covered half of her face all throughout the series. So did ERIKA steal WARREN from NICOLE? I dont think so. If WARREN loved NICOLE, nothing would have made him change. From beginning to the end, he had always treated NICOLE like a sister. However, ERIKA was not so completely heartless as it seemed. She did really love WARREN. One thing I dont understand about this series is what is so wrong with women who have ambition or want to have a successful career. Like ERIKA, I agree that she went overboard to achieve her goal but why everyone must think that having WARREN was enough? Take Yu Ju Hee for example. She was a very successful newsreader but people would cheer her when she gave up her dream to get married. As for NICOLE, she was still young, it was a good opportunity for her to go and advance her career at the end but NO, she only wanted to get married.

Han Jae Suk as WARREN:

WARREN is one pitiful character. Was he so blind in falling in love with ERIKA while NICOLE was so desperately in love with him? Did he make a wrong choice? He stood aside watching her ignoring him at the company. He forgave her every time she lied to him. Whatever she did, he always found excuses for her behaviour then forgave her. Is he one lovesick puppy? Is he so foolishly in love? Did he make a wrong choice when he fell in love with ERIKA? This is what love is supposed to be. There should not be right or wrong when one loves another. There is also nothing such as question and answer in love. Not everything can be explained with words in love. WARREN loves ERIKA that much. WARREN looked really dopey to me in the beginning. I don't think he is handsome. However, towards the end of the series, his love for ERIKA moved me. Han Jae Suk turned in a fine performance as the desperate lover. He brought out the frustration of a lover who knew that his girlfriend lied to him, mistreated him but he just loved her too much to stay away from her. His tragic ending was unpredictable.

I really resisted this series. First, I cant stand the idea of going through another sappy Choi Ji Woo series; secondly the plot is the cliché of all Korean drama clichés, and lastly this drama had a terribly sad ending. But I was curious about all this Kwong Sang Woo (CHOLO) rave, and I finally persuaded myself to spare 20 hours of my time to go through this.
Predictably, Stairway To Heaven is a mish-mash of the standard Korean drama recipe, you name it (you can call it Choi Ji Woo (JODI) re-runs, think of a cross between Winter Love Song and Beautiful Days), this dramas got it: evil stepmother, evil stepsister, stupid dumb father, perfect rich handsome male lead, quietly suffering female lead, love triangle, car accidents, amnesia, terminal disease, death and of course, tears, more tears, lots of tears. If this had been my first Korean drama, I would foresee the need to see an eye doctor from all that crying. Thank goodness I was saved from all those heartaches. After having caught Winter Love Song and Beautiful Days, Choi Ji Woos crying does not affect me anymore.

Now I know why the KWONG SANG WOO (CHOLO) fever is blazing through everyone who's seen this series, and I understand why every girl is crazy about him. Who wouldnt?! CHOLO is such a prince charming, the ideal flawless lover. He is smart, strong, charming, loyal, steadfast in his love for Jung-suh, and to top it off, he is handsome, has a great body (my vote for the Korean actor with the best bod, did you see those abs!!!!) and is extremely rich and eligible! Perhaps he is heaped and blessed with so much in life that he has to live it out without his one true love.

His relationship with JODI is so intimate, so playful and lovable. They are truly soulmates. And how can your heart not go out to him, losing JODI not once but twice, once to amnesia, and then to cancer. Their relationship is so emotionally close yet so physically far apart, just like the mobile conversations they have with each other at the police station after CHOLO's engagement to EUNICE, at the cafe after JODI finds out that she's got cancer, and at the hospital when CHOLO finds out JODI is dying.
Kwong Sang Woo's healthy celebrity image is reinforced in this serial. He was totally adorable, wickedly charming and surprisingly he had a lot of chemistry with CHOI JI WOO (I initially felt that the pairing was inapproprite as CJW looked older than KWONG SANG WOO, but I was SO WRONG!).

My favorite scenes were all the times they fooled around (you can really feel that they were having fun, and it was refreshing to hear CHOI JI WOO (JODI) laugh so much), and all their kissing scenes. Well done! Again, I am glad he didnt do much bawling (but I have to say that his breakdown outside the café after meeting a blind JODI was the one of the few well-justified ones that Ive seen), and gave enough tears at the right moment. I wonder whether KWONG SANG WOO got a good workout from all that running and piggy backing from this serial? And did his driving improve considerably with so much driving to the beach, and driving next to buses and trains to chase JODI?

CHOI JI WOO reprised her role of the perfect, kind, self-suffering heroine in this drama. There were no surprises in her performance, and she has once again found another winner with KWONG SANG WOO as her leading man.

Han JODI is lucky to have the unconditional love of not 1, but 2 men in her life. Her life may have been short, but she managed to complete all that she wanted to, and perhaps more. The good thing about JODI (vs CHOI JI WOO's previous roles in BD and WLS) is that she was not afraid to display her disgust and stood up to her step mother and step sister. She was also outspoken and forthcoming in her love for CHOLO. I would consider JODI to be the least restrained amongst CHOI JI WOO's previous roles. But I really hated the screaming and bawling at TRISTAN when she regained her memory, at EUNICE when she realised what EUNICE had done, at CHOLO when she lost her eyesight, etc etc. (Yawn! Yawn!) Can I see something new from CHOI JI WOO?

STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN is a sappy love story through and through with no sub-plot for the other characters in the series. The writers dedicated almost all the air time to develop the love story of the characters and did not inject any effort to build the characters and profiles of the different roles they have created in the series. The roles were quite one-dimensional and unbalanced. There were perfect lovers, perfect villians, and perfect dumbos.

Yet with such a flat and one-dimensional storyline, I still dont understand what the underlying theme of this story is. Is it that true love will always come back, like a boomerang? Or that you will meet your love in this life or in heaven? Or that love does not mean you need to stay together? I resent it when the writers give unrealistic/over-idealistic portrayals of love. Especially the character of TRISTAN. Is it realistic to find a lover like TRISTAN? Someone who is willing to kill himself for JODI? I think the writers have taken the topic of sacrificing for love to an unbelievable level.

Having said that, I was most touched by TRISTAN. The sheer sadness of his unrequited love hurts much more than anything else in this story. He may have been selfish initially hiding JODI from her family and CHOLO, but in the end he was willing to give up everything, even his life to atone for what he did in exchange for CHOLOs happiness. He watched JODI closely like her guardian angel. Although he must be dying inside seeing JODI marry CHOLO, he helped paved the way for their eventual union. He lived his life for JODI, and ended it for her as well. Can it get any sadder than that? I didnt like Shin Hyun Joon (TRISTAN) initially as I thought he was not good-looking enough. But toward the end, my heart was going out to him all the way. So I guess in that way, SHIN HYUN JOON(TRISTAN) captured my heart with his performance.

I felt the role of TRISTAN was a little inconsistent. The adolescent TRISTAN was brash, reckless and rash. The adult version seemed more watered down and less bashful (perhaps almost wimpish). If the writers had carried on the bad boy role of TRISTAN, and had someone like perhaps KMJ (of Damo and Into the Storm) to play TRISTAN, I think the story will be much more interesting.

Tidbits : Lee Wan who played the younger TRISTAN is apparently the younger sibling of Kim Tae-hee, the older EUNICE.

Lee Hui Hyang (MAITA) and Kim Tae Hee (EUNICE) were the perfect partners in crime as the evil stepmother and stepsister in this serial. I find Kim Tae Hee (EUNICE) to be extremely beautiful, and yet she was able to conceal that beauty and brought out only the ugliness of her role. The jealousy and hatred were vividly conveyed in her eyes every time she saw JODI. But I felt the writers overdid the bad part of EUNICE and underplayed her love for CHOLO. She is made out to be hated by the audience, with no sympathy at all for what she did. I wished the role could be more balanced.

5) CHOI JI WOOs (JODI) wailing and she did a lot of it in STH. I feel there must be a different way to display despair, anger and hysteria. Why must she be wailing all the time?
6) JODI dying at the beach - all that heavy breathing, and poor dialogue, and oh yes who can forget about the microphone being captured in the scene, which incidentally it happened more than once in this series, I spotted it 3 times! Unforgivable.
7) The ending - so TRISTAN wasted his life for nothing....
8) The ending - so you expect a stud like CHOLO to live it out all alone till he meets JODI in heaven? In the mean time, can I give him my number...

What I can't comprehend =======================
After trying so hard to regain JODI's memory, why didn't CHOLO tell her he loved her the moment she remembered her identity? What else was there to stop him, after regretting all his life for not doing enough for JODI? Why didn't he break off the engagement immediately? Why? Why? Why?
For first-timers to Korean drama, be prepared to be sucked into the sappiness of STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN, and I pray you come out ok after watching this as it will grip you, tear you apart and leave you completely heartbroken.
For veterans, if you want a story to get lost in (or drown in tears), this is one you should pick. Unfortunately, I watched it with well-guarded tear ducts, and as such, I was not sucked into the story as much as the fans were, but I can understand why this is a hit.
STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN deserves only 4 stars although the story was well structured (but one-dimensional), had with a pair of captivating leads and flawless execution by the cast, because I think the love depicted here was really too far-fetched and over-idealised.
I can't help but wonder what the writers would do if they were to have a sequel for the lonely Song-ju? Wouldn't it be interesting? Having stuffed all the winning ingredients for a successful love story in STH, SBS writers, wouldn't it be challenging to see how you can out-do this with a sequel?

All About Eve" is basically about the lives of two young women whose goal in life is to become the best newswoman. NICOLE (Chae Rim) grows up comfortably in a single parent family. Her mother passed away when she was little and her father devotes all his love to NICOLE. On the other hand, we have ERIKA (Kim So Yeon), who grows up in a harsh condition with her mom leaving her when she turned 6 and her dad, an alcoholic who abused her when he was drunk. NICOLE is secretly in love with WARREN (Han Jae Suk) but he only treats her as a sister since they grew up together. ERIKA's father works in the construction company of NICOLE's father. He dies from an accident and ERIKA is left with nothing. NICOLE's father pities her and takes her in.

He asks WARREN to let ERIKA stay at WARREN’s working flat. Coincidentally, both NICOLE and ERIKA get into the same course at university.WARREN feels sympathy for ERIKA and helps her out. NICOLE misunderstands his intentions and is heartbroken. She leaves Korea and goes to London to study English. In London, she befriends KENNETH to whom she confides her love for WARREN. KENNETH encourages her to tell WARREN of her true feeling. However, on returning to Korea, NICOLE realizes that it is too late as WARREN has fallen in love with ERIKA. NICOLE, ERIKA and WARREN work for MBS, a TV station. At this time, KENNETH returns to Korea and decides to help out his father, the owner of MBS, whose health is failing.

KENNETH also decides to court NICOLE even though she still cares about WARREN. Both women compete to be the best newswoman in the TV station and at the same time have to deal with their own relationship problems.The whole series could be summed up in one word: LOVE. It starts out quite promisingly with potential character and plot development. Yet later, it mainly focuses on the two main couples and just forgets about the plot. We have KENNETH, who hates his father in the beginning. It was probably to add a touch of tragedy to the past of the main actor’s role. Then he just simply comes back to Korea, sits in the chair of director and everything is normal as if nothing has ever happened. KENNETH's stepmother, now is she an evil woman who steals another woman's husband? This point was never clarified in the series.

We also have someone who appeared to be a villain, a rival to KENNETH in the company, but nothing really happened with this potential villain. This series is about receiving love but not giving it in return. KENNETH patiently waits for NICOLE, who runs to him every time she is upset even though she was still in love with WARREN. She never once tries to comfort him or understand him. Then we have WARREN, who sacrifices everything for ERIKA, even his life no matter how much she wronged him. So the two men in this series are like saints while the women are so heartless.

Full House starring Rain, Song Hye Kyo (JESSIE) and Kim Sung Soo(LUIGI)...!!!!This series is about a girl who has lived in the house built by her father (Full House) since she was born, JESSIE and a famous actor, JUSTINE LEE (Bi). One day, JESSIE went on a trip to China and met JUSTINE on the plane. A series of incident between them on the plane (including her vomiting on him) caused JUSTINE to despise JESSIE. By chance they also stayed at the same hotel. When JESSIE tries to check-in to the hotel with her limited English skills, she met LUIGI, JUSTINE’s long time friend. After sometime in China, JESSIE found that she had no money left and she couldn’t find anyone she knew, so she decided to seek the help of JUSTINE LEE. However, JUSTINE wanted nothing to do with her. But after he found out that JESSIE knew LUIGI, he decided to help. After she got back from China, JESSIE found out that her two ‘best-friends’ had sold her house and ran off with the money and also applied for a credit card under her name, so technically she was broke. The worst part was that the house was bought by JUSTINE LEE!!!!!!

Problems start to arise when JESSIE refused to leave because she believes that the house was still rightfully hers. But JUSTINE kicked her out of the house. Being the a determined person, JESSIE sleeps outside the house and fell in. JUSTINE find hers lying in front of the house the next day, took her in and looked after her till she got better. They later made a deal that she was to work was his housekeeper to pay off the debts she owed him and in return she got to live in the house. In JUSTINE’s prespective, he found out that ‘the love of his life’ which he had a crush on since 9 years-old, LORRAINE, was about to leave for New York to study. So he decided to propose to her. However, LORRAINE only liked him as a friend, instead she likes LUIGI. On the night of the proposal, JUSTINE got everything set but LORRAINE got a call from LUIGI in the middle of the meal and decided to leave.

JUSTINE became heartbroken. The next day or so, JUSTINE attended a party and JESSIE followed along. At the party, things got heated up when LUIGI told LORRAINE that he didn’t like her that way and that she didn’t really love him, she only wanted to posses him. Instead he told her that JUSTINE likes her a lot. LORRAINE got the wrong idea and confronted JUSTINE. In the heat of rage, JUSTINE pretended to confess his love for JESSIE and kissed her. This news made headlines. JUSTINE and JESSIE then made a pack to have a contract marriage for 6 months whereby after that they will divorce and she will get a share of money and the Full House back.

The next day, they announced their engagement. When JUSTINE’s family found out, they called JESSIE over. It seems that JUSTINE does not contact his family very often after he dropped out of medical school and left home to pursue his acting career which caused him to have a row with his father. After their marriage, JESSIE and JUSTINE went to Thailand for their honeymoon. There, they had a few light moments together showing the softer side of JUSTINE. When they got back, JUSTINE teaches JESSIE how to ride the bike, one of the highlights of their relationship.

However, JESSIE was still treated like a maid by JUSTINE. He enjoyed teasing her, calling her names and forcing her to do all the house cleaning. In the mean time, JUSTINE continued to meet up with LORRAINE, whom he always has his mind on. After a while JESSIE managed to track down the two friends who stole her money and every time she ran away because of JUSTINE’s bad treatment, she would go to their place. Her two friends however only had money on their minds and after they found out that JESSIE’s marriage to young-Jae was by contract, they threatened to reveal it to the press. Luckily, JESSIE manages to counter the threat by telling them that she would report that they stole her money to the police. So instead they compromised and JUSTINE helped the guy (the two friends are husband and wife) to get a job in his management agency.

JESSIE also managed to get a sypnosis writing job at LUIGI’s company (LUIGI is a big time publicity/entertainment company owner). On JESSIE’s birthday, JESSIE mentions that she wanted to visit Magicland (a famous amusement park in South Korea). Overhearing that, JUSTINE decided to surprise her there. However because JESSIE went out with LUIGI instead, she did not go to Magicland. Instead JUSTINE was chased around by a mob of fans there. However, they managed to go to Magicland that might and snuck in to the ice-skating ring where they had another fun moment together.

The first turning point of the story was when, LORRAINE fell sick and was admitted to the hospital. When JUSTINE got the news, he rushed to the hospital and frantically searched for her. When he found her, he held her hand tightly. When JESSIE saw this, she felt a small heartache and then she realised that she had fallen for JUSTINE LEE. Of course she didn’t mention anything to him, but she tried her best to win him over. But it wasn’t very successful.

Then JESSIE decided to tell him that she really likes him but he took it was a joke and she didn’t dare say anything else to convince him. Because of work, JESSIE and LUIGI always met, talked and had meals together. But what she didn’t know was that he always made time for her was because he really liked her and one day he decided to tell her that. He asked her if she would give him a chance. Then came another turning point. JUSTINE realised that he was jealous and didn’t want LUIGI and JESSIE to be together. He tries to convince JESSIE not to see him but JESSIE didn’t believe him.

Also, JESSIE grew closer and closer to JUSTINE’s family and she really grew on them as well. As a last ditch of attempt to get LUIGI to stay away from JESSIE, JUSTINE LEE tried to convince LUIGI that JESSIE was pregnant. However it didn’t go well and instead LUIGI found out that their marriage was fake. The nest turning point was when JUSTINE wanted to make up for being so bad to JESSIE, he invited her out for dinner. But before he got there he got a call from LORRAINE and decided to go to her instead. That night he did not return home and only returned in the morning. JESSIE waited all night for him. Because JUSTINE is always so stuborn and proud, he did not want to apologise and instead broke JESSIE’s heart without knowing it. She runs away only to be found by LUIGI in the pouring rain.

JESSIE fell sick again and this time it was LUIGI who took care of her. But being a good friend, he called JUSTINE and told her she was with him and warned him that because he was treating JESSIE so badly, he was going to take JESSIE away from him for good. JUSTINE was furious with that and stormed over to LUIGI’s and took JESSIE back to the house. From then on it was like a tug-of-war love between the four of them, JESSIE likes JUSTINE, JUSTINE doesn’t know who he likes, LORRAINE know likes JUSTINE and LUIGI likes JESSIE. But when, JESSIE was forced to make a drastic decision, she decides to ask JUSTINE for a divorce because she did not want to be hurt anymore and he wanted what she thought JUSTINE wanted.

Then JESSIE finds out that JUSTINE’s acting career is going down the drain because of all the ‘scandals’ of him and both girls and his manager told her to stay with him for the mean time. So she decides to ask JUSTINE to reconsider. From then, JUSTINE decided that he wanted to take care of JESSIE. But suddenly another turn of events made him change his mind and he decides to go back to LORRAINE (I think it’s because he knew LORRAINE was too weak and she might get hurt, so he wanted to stop that from happening and instead ‘sacrifices’ JESSIE).

However, JESSIE still refused to give up on JUSTINE so he pretends to treat her like dirt so that she will lose hope of him. JESSIE counters his bad treatment by going on a trip to Venice with LUIGI. JUSTINE gets sad but didn’t want to tell her that. Instead, the day she left he kept thinking about her so much that he called LORRAINE, JESSIE. LORRAINE realised then that JUSTINE was really in love with JESSIE and there’s no use trying to separate them. At the last minute, JESSIE decides not to go with LUIGI after all and being the gentlemen that he is, LUIGI didn’t go either and took JESSIE back.

When JUSTINE got back, he saw LUIGI putting his hand on JESSIE’s shoulder. He got jealous and started scolding JESSIE. But then everything goes wrong when another scandal about JUSTINE breaks out. This time it was that JESSIE married JUSTINE for money. Drastic situations calls for drastic measures. JUSTINE schedules a press conference to explain his situation. He told everyone that he was giving JESSIE a divorce because of a girl he loved but he did not disclose who the girl was (it was JESSIE). After that, JUSTINE went to the mountains to become a novice monk (no he did not cut his hair, just there to learn about peace of mind). And also, LUIGI proposed to JESSIE but she didn’t want to except his proposal saying she hasn’t been divorce for that long. LUIGI told her he will wait. Everyone wanted JUSTINE to come back down from the mountain and so they used all kinds of excuses and told him that JESSIE was sick. He finally budged and came back to the house.

They were obviously still very much in love with each other and so JUSTINE finally summons enough courage to tell Ji-Eun that he loves her very much. And so it was like any other fairy tale. Happily ever after kind of ending. JUSTINE got back on track with his acting when he acted with JESSIE in the screenplay that she wrote about their relationship called “The Maid and I”. They were such a happy couple after that!!!The end!!!

Sinubukan naming kumpirmahin ito sa dalawang kampo pero parehong hindi nila sinasagot ang tawag namin.
Hindi na kami nangulit at baka pakiusapan pa kami na huwag nang patulan ang isyu.

Can Darna fly as high as Mulawin?
Or can Darna soar higher than Mulawin?

We’re talking about ratings here, by the way. Not altitude. Though both fantasy series or fantaseryes—Darna and Mulawin—have supernatural characters that fly high above the skies.

Mulawin, which bid television adieu on March 18, did so with a bang, as the highest rating fantaserye in the country. GMA 7 program manager Redgie Acuña-Magno told the Life & Times that the show’s final episode garnered an incredible rating of 49.9 percent in viewership share in Mega Manila, which includes the areas of Bulacan and Pampanga.

Beginning April 4, the pop Pinay superhero Darna takes over Mulawin’s timeslot, with a primer on April 2 and 3. And as Mulawin is purely a Filipino concoction of recent vintage, so is Darna, but of an older vintage, making it familiar even to Filipinos in their fifties and sixties.

Darna, a scantily costumed evil- and crime-fighting super heroine, is the creation of the phenomenal Filipino novelist long known to komiks and magazine enthusiasts as “Uncle Mars.” The genius’s full name is Mars Ravelo—the same man who created the well-loved komiks superheroes Captain Barbell and Lastikman, as well as the romantic heroine Maruja.

So can Darna, GMA 7’s newest kapuso, win the hearts of the viewers of Mulawin too?

“We’re doing our best to make sure that’s what happens,” relayed Acuña-Magno. “In terms of production, Darna’s budget is about 20 times more than Mulawin’s. As you can see, we want people to enjoy the high production value of this fantaserye. We have more visual and special effects here, including CGI’s (computer-generated images), compared to Mulawin.

“But beyond production values, we also want people to relate to Darna the way they related to Mulawin by casting in the central roles some of the well-loved Mulawin actors. We have Angel Locsin as Darna and her human character, Narda, as well as Dennis Trillo as Narda’s sweetheart.”

Acuña-Magno further pointed out that giving Darna a supporting cast of time-tested veteran actors, alongside the young drama and bold movie idols, will help the show win the hearts of the Mulawin viewers. Eddie Garcia, Celia Rodriguez, Caridad Sanchez, Gina Pareño, husband and wife Christopher de Leon and Sandy Andolong, Tonton Gutierrez, Wendell Ramos, Carmina Villaroel, Alessandra de Rossi, Karen de los Reyes, as well as newcomers Ryza Cenon, CJ Muere and Jeremy Marquez (the eldest child of Joey Marquez by his first nonshow-biz wife) are just some of the stars in the huge cast, which will include countless extras in many scenes.

Lorna Tolentino and Lani Mercado also have cameo roles in the initial episodes of the series.

The VICIOUS VILLAINS

What’s fantaserye without a host of powerful villains? Aside from snakewoman Valentina (Alessandra de Rossi, whose costume includes a live 10-foot boa constrictor) who has snakes for a head of hair, Darna’s pool of writers headed by Dode Cruz, created human-like monsters that are set to make life even more exciting and dangerous for Darna.

For instance, there is Celia Rodriguez as Braguda, the “Queen of Darkness” from the planet Marte, where the magical stone that transforms Narda into Darna is found. Braguda’s mission on Earth, of course, is to retrieve the stone, which is in the safekeeping of Ding (CJ Muere), Narda’s younger brother who is the only one who knows the true identity of Darna.

Eddie Garcia is Mambabarang (the Visayan word for “witch” or “sorcerer”), the “King of Insects,” whose costume is studded with live cockroaches and rats.

Christopher de Leon is Dr. Zombie who has the ability to resurrect the dead.

Carmina Villaroel is Sulfura whose power allows her to melt her enemies.

Christine Reyes (younger sister of actress Ara Mina) is Molecula whose shape changes at will.

The Heroine

So how did fast-rising young star Angel Locsin prepare to portray a tough superwoman?

“To be honest, I didn’t have time to go to the gym at all to become more shapely and toned for my tough super heroine role,” she confessed. “I was busy all along with Mulawin. There was only about a one-week gap from the final taping of Mulawin and to the first taping of Darna.

“In that period, Alessandra and I had a few sessions of martial arts training with an instructor provided by GMA. That was all I had,” added the very pretty actress who is said to be the youngest pick ever to portray Darna in recent years. She is just turning 19 on April 23.

The very first actress to play the role was Rosa del Rosario. Gina Pareño did was Darna the sixties, Vilma Santos in the seventies, and Anjanette Abayari and Nanette Medved in the eighties.

Sharon Cuneta had a guest role as Darna in a nineties remake of Captain Barbell, while Regine Velasquez portrayed the role in a dream sequence yet another remake of Captain Barbell starring Bong Revilla.
The said actresses were no longer their teens when they donned the Darna costume, which through the years became sexier and more revealing.

Darna in 2000s wears red a two-piece costume (excluding the head gears), which covers just about half of her ample breast. Now, isn’t the network worried that the conservative members of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRB) might find the bosomy costume objectionable? Especially for young viewers who are always attracted to fantaseryes?

Acuña-Magno quickly and happily replied, “They have approved our plugs and teasers with Angel in her Darna costume. So that means they don’t find her costume objectionable. I think even the most conservative of them understand that Darna simply aims to entertain and not to cater to so-called prurient desires.

“Also, if we cover all of Angel’s breasts, they will all the more call for undue attention. Her first breastplate in Mulawin, where she played Alwina, was like that and it scandalized some people. So we had the breastplate reduced and just made her wear something black on top to cover the rest of her breasts.”

Meanwhile, Locsin clarified, “It’s not true that I had my breasts augmented so I will look sexy enough for Darna. They’re all natural. And I don’t think my appeal as Darna would be based on my supposed sexiness. I think many of the actresses who have played Darna are sexier than I am. I think my appeal will rely more on the story, the casting combination, and the production values of the show.

“And since the Darna will have young viewers, I don’t think GMA 7 intends to make it a sexy show despite the costume. I’m sure the network knows what it’s doing. By now, I really trust them and that they know what is best for me.”

The fantasy series is taped in Bulacan and in Laguna, with Dominic Zapata and Eric Quizon as co-directors. Scenes with special effects are done in a studio in Makati. The cast tapes twice or thrice a week.

The Jenny Pinoys have come to love now returns as Jessie Han in “Full House.” Jessie comes home from a trip to China, which was paid for by her friends, only to find out that they did so only to sell her house while she was away. The new owner of the house is the famous actor Justin Lee (Jung Jee Hun). Circumstances bring Justin and Jessie into a marriage bound by a special contract, making them appear as a couple to the public. Under the terms of the contract, they will be married for six months while Jessie does all the housework. After six months, she will get the house back.

However, Jessie finds herself falling for Justin, but he is in love with his childhood friend, Lorraine (Han Eun Jung). On the other hand, Justin’s friend Luigi (Kim Song Soo) is attracted to Jessie. This “couple” will be put through amusing and interesting situations throughout their married life which will bring them closer together. But will they ever become a real couple?
